Open for Student Success: Ensuring Equity with Open Education Resources in Course Content

Open for Student Success: Ensuring Equity with Open Education Resources in Course Content Online

The benefits of Open Educational Resources (OER) go beyond cost savings to students! In this session, two librarians will discuss how adopting, adapting, authoring, and assigning OpenStax textbooks and other OER contribute to student success for all students, especially students who frequently experience obstacles to success. In addition to equalizing textbook costs, OER can be adapted to student needs or course content and incorporate diverse voices and perspectives. Open Pedagogy assignments can allow students to express their own voices as well as engage them in meaningful assignments in which they learn about finding high-quality sources and using information ethically and legally. This event will be hosted via WebEx at https://gsumeetings.webex.com/meet/cmartonimcelrath.
